A rare opportunity to see and mark the 40th year reunion with founder members of radical folk band FIELDWORK, described as one of the most innovative folk bands of the 80/90s. Fieldwork formed in 1984 with guitarist Dave Walker Patrick Gray fiddle, singer Tim Garland and percussionist William Johnson and began to explore the then vibrant and political Nottingham folk scene. They developed a sound that spanned different cultures and backgrounds before the world/roots tag became fashionable. Whilst some of their material was self-penned, a good deal was drawn from traditional sources and adapted to suit Fieldworkâs contemporary sound and approach. Alongside guitar, fiddle, cittern and harmonium, they featured a battery of percussion lending an exotic touch to their fusion of English, Eastern European and African influences. Their live performances were ingenious and energetic, and won the band a cult status around the folk / roots scene of the late 80/90s.
